Who we are

The Caribbean American Center of New York, Inc (CACNY) is a multi-service non-profit tax-exempt organization founded in 1987 and incorporated in NYS in 1988.

Mission Statement

To empower and enhance the quality of life for immigrants, minorities, veterans and their families and other disadvantaged persons by providing access to economic development, education, health info, nutrition, skills training, legal/citizenship, arts & culture, youth and other services.

Communities Served

The Caribbean American Center of New York Inc. (CACNY) is committed to changing the lives of children in low income families in New York City and its environs, with a particular focus on low-income youth from immigrant & minority communities, those in public and temporary housing (homeless shelters) and others.

Main Goals

  • CACNY remains committed to continue expanding its free Robotics, STEM/STEAM, and Academic Education classes throughout NYC each year, using tutoring, counseling, mentoring, and direct support to boost Regents/SAT scores and college applications for low-income students.
  • Through education, sports, live cooking demonstrations, and parent outreach, CACNY aims to improve the health and nutrition of minority youth and adults. We also empower parents of school-aged children with resources to support their children's academic success and offer ESL and computer classes for foreign language speakers.
  • CACNY's aim is to continue to grow its Digital Media Arts Program, fostering youth skills in media, film, and editing.
  • Having successfully launched 100% virtual programming during COVID-19, CACNY will expand this model to feature career exploration videos. Professionals will provide comprehensive guidance on education, skills training, and internships needed for diverse careers.

Immediate Priorities

  • By deepening our engagement with local schools, community centers, and government agency programs like the NYCHA Public Housing for Community Youth Initiative, CACNY's goal is to further integrate our free programs into the fabric of the community, ensuring wider access for young people.
  • Our ongoing commitment is to ensure low-income NYC families have access to quality education via our comprehensive offerings in STEAM/Robotics, job training, health and talent development, Regents Prep, and college admissions.
  • CACNY is committed to promoting better health, nutrition, and exercise through partnerships with key institutions like hospitals, schools, and healthcare organizations.
  • To ensure individuals have access to the legal resources they need, CACNY provides free referrals for a variety of legal-related matters.
